Pyrenean horse breeders have always been moving their Merens and Castillon horses to the summer pastures in the mountains. This tradition is the guarantee of the authenticity, the agility and the temperament of both breeds.
This event at the beginning of the summer is one of the most important of the Pyrenean culture and is the opportunity for traditional festivals.
We invite you to share this great adventure with our Merens and Castillon horses among the herds.

Planning
Friday 9 June
Reception of the riders at the end of the afternoon. Lodging and dinner in the Hotel in Saint Lizier in the valley of Salat at the foot of the Couseran mountains
Saturday 10 June
- Preparation of the horses early in the morning.
- Crossing of St Lizier and St Girons with the herds. for this occasion the towns are closed to the traffic. Ascent in the valley of Castillon towards Bordes sur Lez.
- Transfert of the riders to the village of Sentein where we join the traditionnal transhumance festival.
- Lodging in a gîte.
Sunday 11 June
- Ascent with the herds in the mountains to the Circle of Campuls and a special lunch together with the breeders.
- Ride to the top of the mountains in the afternoon then return to the valley.
- Lodging in a gîte.
Monday 12 June
- Return to St Lizier passing by the pond of Bethmale and the col of Rêche after the leaving of the herds.
- Lodging and meal in the hotel in St Lizier.
Tuesday 13 June
- End of the trek.
