In search of the high lakes


Description
The departure of this trek is the small mountain village of Porté Puymorens, on the border of Andorra,Spain and France.
We use a packhorse for this very wild trek and do not have a four-wheel drive every day at our disposal.

Saturday
Reception of the riders in the gîte in Porté Puymorens
Sunday
Porta - Lanoux
From Porté Puymorens ascent to the lake of Lanous at 2200 m where we have a bivouac.
Monday
Lanoux - Camporels (Montagne refuge)
we stay at the same height and ride to the refuge of Camporels by the lakes of the same name at 2250 m in the middle of the réserve.
Tuesday
Camporels - Rieutord (cosy gite)
After two days in the heights we make a short stage and come down to the beautiful valley of Galbe to spend the night in a gite at the bottom of a valley.
Wednesday
Rieutord - Rabassolles (bivouac)
We pass by the pond of Quérigut, then make an ascent to the ponds of Rabassolles at 2000 m where we have a great bivouac.
Thursday
Rabassolles - Le Chioula (Mountain refuge)
From the pond of Rabassolles we ride up to the blue pond, then to the black pond towards the «coumeille de l'Ours » at the bottom of the Tarbésou (2364 m), and we arrive at the col of Paillhère from where we keep riding over the crests towards the Chioula refuge with a most impressive panorama over the Pyrenees.
Friday
Chioula - Comus (Gîte)
From the Chioula, we follow the crests untill midday. We cross the estives of the "pla de sept cazes", then go down on Montaillou, an old occitan village with a lot of History, and eventually Comus, end of our trek.
Saturday
Departure from Comus.
Reception and transfert of the riders in Porté Puymorens in Ariège. Night in the gîte in Comus and transfer to the railway station or the airport.
This trek suits the adventurous riders who can ride the three paces.
It goes perfectly with the Pass Mountain trek for a two weeks trek.
